Crossing 2017 off my bucket list

I have tried to write this a few times, but somehow I lost my voice along the way every single time. I’m not writing this to update anyone on how my life has been. The ones who wanted to know, have asked, and the ones I wanted to know, I have informed. No offence to anyone. I’m writing this to give myself a perspective on how the past year has been.

It’s easy to see the things I have failed at: not getting the job I wanted, not even knowing exactly which job that is, not doing enough of what I’m supposed to, not focusing on myself, not taking proper care of myself, not, not, not. I could go on for a while. But I’m going to stop.

I want to show myself, that even if 2017 kicked my butt and threw me all over the place (literally, I moved 6 times this year – not including the initial first move to Berlin). It was an interesting year. I cried, I felt desperate, helpless and hopeless, lost and stressed. But at the same time I cried from laughter, felt happiness, love and hope. There’s no proper way to describe the bliss you feel in complete darkness, that moment when a ray of light shines through and it’s exactly the one thing you needed to get past whatever was going on. That could have been some kind words, a very good friend or some situation that turned everything around. I thanked those friends personally who have been there to pull me out of my madness. Would be still spinning without them.

I can say that I feel stronger now, almost nothing scares me and I know I can handle a lot of things. Also, I can do a lot of things. If someone needs help driving a van or putting together some furniture, I’m your girl ;).

But that’s enough of serious talk. Here are some things I did this year, that I can cross of my bucket list.

Visited Iceland

I can say that this was the highlight of my year. I definitely want to go back!

Worked at music festivals

This is another highlight and I’m so happy I got the chance to do this. I worked at The Secret Solstice in Reykjavik and at Lollapalooza in Berlin.

Worked on a music video

This was extremely fun to do and my friend did an amazing job with the video. You can watch it here

Saw most of the bands from my playlist

How amazing is that?! I got to see some bands I’ve wanted to see for years! Just to name a few: Franz Ferdinand, The XX, London Grammar, Mumford & Sons, Foo Fighters, Two Door Cinema Club, Moderat, Alt-J, One Ok Rock… (the list goes on, but I will stop for now).

Saw Joe Hisaishi live

He made the soundtrack to my favorite movies. I never thought I would ever see him live. But I did in Paris. Mind blowing experience.

I have also met a lot of inspiring people this year. A lot of new friends with whom I’ve shared beautiful moments. I have been part of a lot of things, that I never thought I would be. And the places I’ve seen – you probably already saw the highlights on my Instagram

So 2017, it has been a pleasure. I have pushed myself to my limits and pushed past some of them. There’s still a lot of work to do, but that’s ok. One day at a time. Thank you for the lessons, opportunities and challenges. It’s time to move on now. Cheers!

Yes, that is a picture of me wearing the Palace of Westminster as a crown. You are welcome.
